It’s been over three months since I wrote and made a statement on our approach to the novel coronavirus, aka Covid-19, which was about to impact on our lives. At the time we said that we did not expect to take bookings until at least October. Today, I wanted to give an update of sorts on how the situation is impacting our service.
In many ways there is no real update, as we do not actually know what the future will bring.
Obviously we all know that mass gatherings are not allowed at present, and the services we offer do not lend themselves to social distancing. Casino nights involve groups in close proximity, with our staff facing them at less than a metre away and chips passing between players. Photo booths, by their very nature involve multiple people crowding into a small space, touching screens and sharing props.
Pubs and hospitality outlets opening on July 4 means that our services could theoretically be employed in certain circumstances soon. Real life casinos are also planning to reopen, at a yet to be announced date, potentially employing screens between players, and with masks and visors for croupiers.
Even if we are able to be employed for fun casino nights it is unlikely to be economically viable for us to make our services ‘covid friendly’ therefore we take the view that we will not be taking any bookings for fun casino nights until such times that we are able to provide our usual service without restrictions or PPE equipment. We also do not envisage being in a position to offer staffed photo booth hires, however we will look at dry hires (equipment only) if requested.
We will review the situation in October, ahead of December – which is traditionally our busiest month – and therefore remain closed for bookings in the next three months – this includes bookings for 2021.
We hope you are all staying safe and stand with our clients in the hospitality industry and colleagues in the events business at this extremely challenging time.
